Today, I’m trying something new. I am featuring my first guest blogger and he just so happens to be my golden retriever pup named Chipper. Chipper is quite the traveler, especially for only having been on this earth for 6 months. During his time with us, he’s been to Chicago a couple of times, French Lick in Indiana, Louisville, KY, and will be traveling to Texas, Oregon and then to Hawaii this summer/fall (although he doesn’t know it yet)!
Chipper’s also been to baseball games (fitting because he is named after Chipper Jones), happy hour, Food Truck Fridays, has graduated from puppy school, and has successfully gone from a country pup to city pup. Now, I introduce to you, Chipper the Traveling Golden:
Another weekend, another car ride. I hate these things. I used to puke my guts out every time I got into a car, but I finally grew out of that, I think. Now, I just lay here, with the entire back seat to myself and wait until we get to wherever we’re going. But I’m a dog, and I really have no concept of time, so who knows?
This past Saturday started like any other. Mom and Dad slept in after being out late the night before, I was fed my favorite meal of the day, breakfast – I mean, can a dog get some variety here? Then they started taking away my favorite toys, and I thought “we must be going on an adventure!” Right as Dad overly excitedly asked me, “Chipper! Wanna go on an adventure?!”
Of course I do. Unless it involves getting into the car.
Which it did. Like any other situation in life, I hate jumping. Unless I’m jumping on to the couch, which I’m no longer allowed to do… But things like getting onto the bed or into the car are one my many struggles in life.
It’s like this: I’ll put my two paws up into the backseat of my car and that’s it. Dad always has to lift the rest of me to get in. They think it’s silly but it really is difficult to get into the car. Plus, I don’t like it.
On to the road trip! I lay there for the entire ride and listen to my parents sing along to some girl named Taylor Swift. She has no face, but she is normally pretty loud on car rides and Dad always asks Mom if we can listen to something else. Mom usually says no, but I don’t care because I like this invisible Taylor Swift person.
Ah! Finally! We are here. Wherever “here,” is. Today is someplace called Louisville, Kentucky.
Our first place is called the Louisville Loop. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled so many smells! We went on a long hike and it was all on dirt and grass, my favorite! Our usual walks take place on cement since we live in the city but this time I got to sniff trees and get dirty! So. Much. Fun.
Here’s a picture of me telling my parents to hurry up (they had trouble keeping up with me).
After our super fun hike, Mom and Dad were hungry so we stopped at Against the Grain Brewery. A place with outdoor seating that allowed dogs (obviously), which was located right in downtown Louisville. This place was known for their BBQ and beer and I was so bummed I didn’t get any. I did, however, score lots of ice cubes and water!
That’s all for now. Until my next adventure!
Woof,
Chipper the Traveling Golden
