Seattle in one day: Good eats and shops

With just one full day in Seattle, the only thing I’m asking is “Where should I eat?” I arrived in Seattle late Saturday night and was starving. I struggled with a long day of God awful delays and just wanted to eat and enjoy my time in this amazing city.

I stayed in Downtown/Belltown so my first stop was Rocco’s Pizza, which is located on Second Avenue on a strip of other bars and was quite the place to be on a Saturday night. I was excited! I went with my dad and step-mom and we split half of a chicken pesto pizza (the slices are huge so we could only handle a half order). Yum. The crust was infused with garlic and covered with mozzarella cheese, and pesto, need I say more?

The alcohol was also delicious. I had no idea what I wanted so I asked our waiter to surprise me and he brought back a drink that had a whiskey base, lemon juice, rum and a bunch of other things in it that made it so that I was only able to handle one drink. One of my favorite parts about Rocco’s was the fact that their drink menus were in children’s books. Clever :).

The next morning, we ventured to Moore Coffee Shop, located right next to Moore Theater. I quickly became obsessed with this place. They’re known for their latte art, but it’s unique because they don’t just do your typical leaf. Instead, they create things like bunnies, bears and cats. My yummy Matcha Green Tea Latte had a butterfly on it! Their food was also amazeballs – I’m talking waffles on waffles on waffles covered in everything from Nutella to prosciutto. Ugh, I miss it already!

Moore is also located near Pike’s Place Market which will fill your nose with the smell of a variety of blooming flowers and fish! Pike’s offers a lot of samples and food but I was just too full. It’s a great place to walk through, especially for first-time visitors. Among all of the great food, Pike’s also offers little shops, two of which quickly became my absolute favorites. One was located beneath the market and is called Old Seattle PaperworksOmg. We are talking vintage posters from World War II propaganda, old movie posters, maps, old school advertisements straight out of Mad Men and more!

The other shop I stumbled into was Metsker Maps and if you know me, you know that I’m obsessed with maps (along with purses and baseball analogies). I could have spent the entire day in this store (seriously).

The purpose of my trip was not only to eat and shop (although it may seem as if every trip is meant for that). One of my cousins got married! So I got to visit with some family which is always fun and I also got to meet up with a good friend of mine, Bianca, from Where Bianca Goes. Bianca is finishing up her BA at Seattle University and was sweet enough to recommend all of these delicious places to me (and more). She even took me out for fabulous drinks at Canon and Unicorn and for a late night snack at Dick’s Drive In. Seattle, I’ll be back for you.

Where are your favorite places to eat in Seattle? I’d love some recommendations!
